Lakeside Legends is an organization that provides competitive traveling baseball opportunities to players through its Youth Program and its High School Showcase Program. Selection for all teams is very competitive.

Legend’s rapidly expanding youth has two programs: Fall Ball, whose emphasis is developmental and Spring Tournament where the environment is more competitive. Currently there are five 2010 Fall Ball teams: 10U Red, 10U Blue, 11U, 12U Red and 12 U Blue. They play against other local teams in the Glenview Youth Baseball League. It is anticipated that there will be three 2011 Spring Tournament teams: 9U, 10U and 11U.

The High School Showcase Program for 2011 has three teams: 15U Red, 15U Blue and 16U. Tryouts for this program typically take place in late summer/early fall for the following year. Workouts, which take place at BatSpeed Academy in Gurnee, begin in mid-November and run through mid-February. The Legends High School Showcase Program does not impact high school baseball programs because their seasons do not overlap. Players are drawn from a variety of high schools in Lake County, IL and southeastern WI.

The Lakeside Legends organization is committed to providing its players with the best possible instruction, coaching and practice facilities to maximize each player’s mental and physical skills. In turn, players need to commit themselves to continuous improvement. This includes not just an individual’s physical skill set, but the mental approach to the game which includes an in-depth knowledge of its rules and the highest level of sportsmanship. This combination of commitments will result in a level of confidence that creates success at the highest levels of competition.

Lakeside Legends was founded in the summer of 2009 by Scott Czerniejweski, owner of BatSpeed Baseball and Softball Academy of Gurnee, IL to help develop the abundance of baseball talent in Lake County, IL and southeastern WI. Both programs will continue to expand and it is anticipated that a 17U team will be added during 2011 tryouts.
